Nets Hold off the Celtics get a win in Beantown.

11 Apr

nets vs celticsAfter a tightly played first half  the Nets went on a small run to end the second quarter and went into the break with a 10 pt lead. The  famed Nets backcourt led the way, Deron had 15 and Joe had 12.   The Nets were able to withstand their Kryptonite otherwise known as the 3rd quarter and  went into the 4th with that same 10 Pt lead.  The Celtics made a run in the 4th but the Nets played an excellent game and never relinquished the lead, finishing with  a 101-93 win

The Good

In what hopefully is a harbinger of things to come, the Nets big 3 finally all had a great night at the same time.  Deron Williams had his fingerprints all over this game as a great point guard should. He scored   29 pts and  had 12  assists and took over the game every time the Nets looked like they were about to fall apart.  Joe Johnson looks like he’s finally healthy again, scoring from all over the court,  he finished with 20 pts on 8-15 shooting. Brook Lopez  did what he always does and scored whenever they gave him the ball as he finished with 21 pts.  He also by the way played some pretty good defense.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Mr. Stackhouse. He played a very good game filling in for an injured Wallace, finishing  with 7 pts, 4 rebs and 3 assists.

The Bad

Crash was finally putting together a decent little game with 2 pts, 2 rebs and 2 assists in only 15 minutes of play, when he got hurt in the 2nd  quarter. Hopefully its not too serious as the Nets will need his energy and defense come playoff time.

The Rest

The Nets played a great game against a hurt but still good Celtics team. They have not had many good wins against play-off caliber teams so this was a very good sign, especially with the playoffs right around the corner.
